The Supervisory Board of the Health and Insurance Fund approved the health insurance budget for 2011
Today, on January 14th, the Supervisory Board approved the Health and Insurance Fund’s budget for 2011 and the development plan for 2011–2014.
The budget income is planned to be 720 million euros, which is 2% more than in the previous year. The estimated expenses make up about 744 million euros, which is 4% more than in 2010. It is planned to exploit the retained profit in the amount of up to 23.6 million euros.
According to the Minister of Social Affairs and the Chairman of the Supervisory Board Hanno Pevkur, it is a good budget – considering the overall situation. “The country’s operational costs have predominantly been frozen, but thanks to reserves, we are still able to offer more health services, compared to the previous year in health care. Hopefully, people can sense it in their everyday life,” Pevkur added.
From the health insurance budget, over 523 million euros go to health services. This includes more than 63 million euros that have been allocated for the provision of general medical care - a growth of 5% compared to the previous year. Over 414 million euros is planned for the provision of specialised medical care, a growth of 4% compared to the previous year. 15 million euros are allocated for the provision of rehabilitation care, which is 6% more compared to the previous year. Over 97 million euros is planned for the compensation of discounted medicine, which is 5% more than the previous year.
“This year, we can buy more medical managers than in the previous year – thus we can improve the availability of medical care,” said Hannes Danilov, the Chairman of the Health and Insurance Fund. “Daily treatment cases will increase 11% compared to 2010 and ambulatory cases about 3%,” he added.
