The Supervisory Board Is Declaring a New Competition for the Post of the Chairman of the Management Board

The Supervisory Board decided to declare a new competition for the post of the Chairman of the Management Board of the Health Insurance Fund due to the failure of both candidates who reached the final stage of the current competition to receive 2/3 of the votes of the Supervisory Board Members as required by law.   All 15 members of the Supervisory Board were present at the meeting. Both candidates for the post of the Chairman of the Management Board − Hannes Danilov and Tanel Ross − presented their positions to the Supervisory Board and answered the questions of the Members of the Supervisory Board. According to the regulations of the Health Insurance Fund, the candidate who receives the votes of at least 2/3 of the Supervisory Board Members present will be designated Chairman of the Management Board by the Supervisory Board. As neither candidate received the required majority, the Supervisory Board decided to declare a new competition for the post of the Chairman of the Management Board.   According to the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Health Insurance Fund Hanno Pevkur, today's meeting demonstrated that the Board had to choose between two very strong candidates. “As the Supervisory Board had to choose between two very strong candidates, the votes of the Board were basically divided equally; therefore, the only thing that the Board could do in this situation was to declare a new competition,” commented Pevkur on the decision of the Supervisory Board.   The deadline to apply for the new competition is 1 July; the Board will reconvene for the election of the Chairman of the Management Board on 27 July.
