Canadians Introduced to the Digital Prescription System
Today, the Health Insurance Fund was visited by a delegation from Quebec, Canada. The guests were intrigued by our experiences with developing and implementing the digital prescription system. Currently, the health care system in Quebec is at a stage where doctors and pharmacists can access data on purchased medication through a central database, but the prescriptions themselves are still issued on paper. Canadians have set their next goal to be the creation of a digital prescription system and thus, the experience of Estonians will certainly prove useful.
In addition to that, the guests showed great interest in the structure and functioning of the Estonian health insurance system as a whole. The delegates are also planning to meet with software developers and pharmacists.
